Ask most coaches and they will tell you that the key to any healthy training program is plenty of recovery. This means some time away from the bike for cross training, catching up on some study time, and lots of team building. This past week was all about team organization and sponsorship.
Last Wednesday, along with Director Zamastil, we had a chance to get together and discuss concerns, ideas, and future goals. One of the most important things on that list was marketing and promotion.
Something we are really excited about this fall is the Biggest Bicycle Swap Meet in Texas. This one day event will be hosted by the MSU Cycling Team and is going to be held at the EDS Superdrome in Frisco, TX on November 17th. Vendors from all disciplines of cycling will be at the swap meet, selling all kinds of cool stuff, and part of the proceeds will go toward the team.
Another important function of the meeting was to nominate team officers and representatives. A lot of work goes into a team as big as ours and a lot of decisions have to be made, so it is important that everyone has a chance to be heard. With help from Charlie, as a team, we all agreed that officers would be the best route to guarantee full representation at school, board, and other meetings. Voting is now under way and we should have a complete list of officers for you next week. Stay tuned for that, and good luck to the nominees.
Speaking of officers; Claire Routledge, our resident kiwi and SGA representative, just celebrated her birthday on Saturday the 20th. Wish her a belated if you haven't already.
We have also been working on a few other projects that we can't talk about just yet, but soon enough, think big! And while you're thinking, take a look around the website. We have updated a few things and are working on making the site as dynamic as possible. Down below, and to the right, you will notice some new buttons that allow you to share all of the cool stuff we are posting and in the next few weeks we will have lots of new team informatiom, profiles, and even more photos… check back for those.
