Base Miles and Big Plans

Last week was a long one as the team got back to training for the road season. The fall/winter base miles mean a lot of time in the saddle and I'm sure everyone was feeling it on their Monday recovery day. If you'd like to follow some of the team's training routes this winter and see how your workout compares, check us out on Strava

After a long windy weekend on the bikes here in Wichita Falls, it was time for a little relaxation. Two of our biggest supporters here on campus, Dr. Howard Farrell, V.P. of university advancement and public affairs, and Dr. Robert Clark, V. P. of administration and institutional effectiveness,  were kind enough to host a BBQ for the team Sunday evening.

Cory Scott took this great photo of everyone enjoying a little friendly competition, thanks buddy.

The highlight of the evening, after a couple of intense matches on the pool table, was definitely the grill-off between Director Zamastil, a vegetarian, and Dr. Farrell, an avid carnivore. I'm not sure who won but everyone agreed the steaks were awesome.

After the miles and meals of the weekend it was back to work planning for the fall season with a team meeting Monday night. We are proud to announce that our new kit design is almost complete and we will be posting some sneak peeks very soon.

Another big event is coming up this Saturday, November 17th, 2012. The MSU Cycling Team will be hosting the Biggest Bicycle Swap Meet in TexasThis one day event will be held at the Superdrome in Frisco, TX beginning at 8 am and lasting throughout the evening. Some of the biggest shops from around Texas will be there to clear out their closets in preparation for next season. Walk-in vendors are also welcome. Check out the page for more information.

Lastly, be sure and head over to The Wichitan online and check out their latest coverage of the team. You can read the story here.

That's about it for this week, we will see you all at the swap meet Saturday. Stay warm out there everone, Fall is finally here.
